Join our Regulatory Incentives Committee
The Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia is looking for Partners to join the Regulatory Incentives committee. Partners will meet monthly beginning in January for 6 months to give feedback on current incentives and the development of new regulatory incentives. Systems Thinking for Sustainability
Georgia State University and the Sustainability Institute present Systems Thinking for Sustainability: an Introduction to Diagramming and Simulation Modeling on December 5–6 at the GSU Health Policy Center. The Lead Trainer of the Sustainability Institute, Andrew Jones, will help attendees better see interdependencies, test thinking, and share insights. Register now.
Fort Benning’s Sustainable Showcase
On December 7, Fort Benning will open its Sustainable Showcase, used for LEED product testing and evaluation. This showcase will help Fort Benning meet its FY08 commitment for all building construction to meet or exceed the LEED Silver standard beginning in FY08. Click here for details. Natural Leaders Event Graphic Recordings Now Available

New Standard for Sustainable Carpet
This month, the Carpet and Rug Institute, a Champion in the Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia, and NSF International, announced the long-awaited release of the Sustainable Carpet Assessment Standard. This new sustainability standard provides a market-based definition for a path to sustainable carpet, and establish performance and environmental requirements for public health and environment, energy and energy efficiency, biobased, recycled content and EPP materials, manufacturing, and reclamation, and end-of-life management. The carpet industry is the first to have a unified sustainable Standard for the entire United States. For more information, click here.
Biomass Sales and Use Tax Exemption
Georgia now offers an exemption for biomass materials from the state’s sales and use taxes. To qualify for the exemption, biomass material must be utilized in the production of energy. For more information, click here.

Partner Spotlight –
City of Atlanta
The City of Atlanta has been a Champion since the Spring of 2004. As a Partner, they are committed to making a Greener Atlanta. On November 17th, Atlanta celebrated this initiative with Atlanta Recycles Day. The festivities included a recycle and junk parade, recycling costume contest, and educational recycling activities. The event was the culmination of the City’s Earth Day Festivities. To learn more about the City of Atlanta’s environmental initiatives, click here.
