2008 Partner Green Retreat

All Partners are invited to the 2008 Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia Green Retreat March 20-21 at Red Top Mountain State Park. Topics will include carbon markets, carbon footprinting, and the Statewide Water Plan. More details will follow soon.

Water Conservation Grants

The Georgia Water Wise Council is offering grants of up to $2,000 to organizations that create educational projects featuring water conservation techniques. Some examples include conservation workshops, newsletters, or water audits. Apply online by January 31.

Recycling and Waste Reduction Grants

Local governments may be eligible for GEFA’s Recycling and Waste Reduction Grants. Grants can be used to promote recycling, buy equipment, construct facilities, and more. Applications are due January 30.

Recycling Awards

Do you have an outstanding paper recycling program? The American Forest and Paper Association is accepting entries through January 31 for the 2008 AF&PA Awards. Apply now.

Noramco Earns State Accolade

Noramco Athens, a Gold Partner, was recognized with the Georgia Department of Labor Commissioner’s Award, the department’s highest level of recognition for industry in the state. Noramco earned the award for demonstrating outstanding performance and environmental, health and safety standards.

Partner Spotlight –
Dunwoody Nature Center

A Champion in the Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia, Dunwoody Nature Center was founded to develop, improve, and preserve DeKalb County’s Dunwoody Park as a natural classroom for environmental education. The park features wetland, woodland, and streamside trails, display gardens, a picnic meadow, and a shaded playground. They offer corporate volunteer and sponsorship opportunities.
